Velodyssey : The Atlantic on two wheels

Velodyssey® is a 1200-km route reserved exclusively for bicycles, crossing France from Roscoff to Hendaye, in the Basque Country. Inauguration : 30 June 2012.

With the Atlantic Ocean always close at hand, Velodyssey® boosts the range of cycle tourism routes available in France considerably.

The route includes an exceptional number of prime tourist sites, whether natural, historical or cultural, as Bayonne and Biarritz. The itinerary has been designed with versatility in mind: it is easy to use, safe, and waymarked with standardised signage. And it is for everyone: families, friends, couples, the sporty and the intellectual, locals, tourists, etc.

In the Basque Country, the route makes a detour inland to take in the citadel of Bayonne, before rejoining the coast in Anglet, a unique surfing spot, and going on to the chic resort of Biarritz. Then it passes through Saint Jean de Luz, once a favourite lair for pirates. After Ciboure and Socoa, it follows the corniche to Hendaye. Next stop the Pyrenees and Spain…
