With temperatures that are never excessive - either in summer or in winter - and the good old-fashioned downpours in spring that give the countryside its incomparable green colour, life is good all year round in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
The traditional palm trees in the Béarn gardens are proof of this. Camellias and mimosas fill the gardens with colour at the end of winter, later giving way to hydrangeas. In autumn, when the southerly wind blows the bluish mountains are suddenly inundated by the flight of woodpigeon, and appear to be within arm’s reach.
