The renowned John the Evangelist whom was recorded in the Bible as having been with Jesus during the Transfiguration, was the brother of St James. The family proved a strong in religious followings as later St James would become the Patron Saint in the Sarcacen resistance. His tomb would be discovered the following century at Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Northwest of Spain. The blessed burial grounds of the Saint would become famed for religious meaning and importance.
The pilgrimages follow an ancient path which wind throughout France, and Spain. There are numerous paths though most begin in the Pyrenees of Southern France. The path links extrodinary historic sights, monuments, churches and towns across the picturesque lands. The walk provokes a sense of midieval expedition and faith by retracing the same paths once traversed by the pilgrims of yester years.
